[TV] Late Late Show Goes Black!
Posted by Ashish on 10.28.2009

Craig Ferguson was forced to host part of last night's Late Late Show by flashlight after a power outage left them in the dark. The lights went out midway through his interview with Alicia Silverstone.

Here's a clip from the show...

They probably had the cameras on independent generators or something.

The lights are run on a different breaker system and power grid then the cameras.
Pro lights eat up more juice then anything else in that studio, so I'm assuming something overloaded and blew, hence the lights went out.

did Silverstone leave as soon as the power went out??? thats a fail on her part if that happened

"have you guys heard of batteries?"

Oh, right. The backup generators are wired into the cameras and broadcasting boards, rather than any sort of auxiliary lighting array.

So in the case that the studio starts to burn down and the lights go out, at least they can record everybody's hideous screams as they're burned alive. How silly of us to doubt the veracity of Craig Ferguson.

If by midway you mean at the very end, then sure. The lights went out as he was getting ready to throw to commercial. The 2nd interview was obviously taped earlier than the first being as the lights were still on, because the lights were out for the close of the show.
